Another listener asks Lawler how WWE feels about Dave Meltzer and other wrestling journalists. Lawler says that WWE aren’t fond of them, because they often spoil WWE’s storylines and that ruins the fun for everyone. Lawler points out that WWE realizes there are rats within the company that are leaking this information to Meltzer and the other journalists, and that’s a very frustrating thing.
Lawler says that he doesn’t like Meltzer because he doesn’t like what Meltzer does for a living. He doesn’t understand what these wrestling journalists are trying to accomplish by spoiling things for fans. Most of these journalists have never worked in the business and therefore they don’t really understand the business.
Another listener writes into the show and asks Lawler if he ever considered joining WWE’s creative team. Lawler says that if you’re part of McMahon’s creative team, you’re basically on call 24/7. He says he enjoyed working the shows and being able to go home without anything to worry about. He always enjoyed the performance aspect of the business but was never a fan of the behind the scenes stuff, even though he did it with his own promotion in Memphis for 20 years.
