Block 3:
Taz welcomes Mike Johnson from PWInsider to the show.
Johnson informs that the original plan for last night’s episode of RAW was to have Samoa Joe take on John Cena. Unfortunately, Joe appears to have been injured during a live event match against Cena over the weekend, and it looks as if Joe will be out about four weeks before returning to the ring. Taz says that really sucks, but he’s sure Joe will come back better than ever.
Johnson believes WWE’s plan moving forward is to write performers off television for a few weeks to let them recharge before bringing them back with a fresh storyline. Taz says he hopes the business can reach that point, but in his era the performers would go crazy sitting at home for weeks on end over the fear that they’d lose their spot on the card.
Taz believes the wrestling business has some work to do in order to catch up with the rest of society, in the sense that wrestling still works on old, established guidelines. Performers work 300 days a year and beat up their bodies night after night and if you take a night off, you don’t get paid the same.
