X-Pac welcomes Kenny Omega to the show.
X-Pac asks Omega about his experience working for IWA in Winnipeg years ago. He says that IWA’s infamous ‘Death tours’ are something he’ll never forget, and he wouldn’t trade those experiences for the world. The promotion would tour Northern Canada, visiting towns only accessible by driving over frozen lakes in the winter. They’d drive for hours on end before arriving at the location of the show, where they’d sleep for sometime before setting up the ring for the show.
It was advised to bring your own food when travelling on these tours because even if you could find food it would be severely overpriced. Omega mentions that the audiences there were always tremendous, and would pop for anything as simple as a shoulder tackle. This meant performers would never have to worry about performing high-risk moves, but Omega admits he’d do so anyways.
Omega talks about the time he spent in WWE developmental between 2006-2007. Similar to the ‘Death tours’, his experience in WWE developmental was not very pleasant at the time, but he values the experience now in hindsight. He admits that his wrestling fundamentals were not very strong before attending WWE’s developmental, and the lessons he learned there have helped him transform into the successful performer we see today.
Omega informs that he asked for his release from WWE developmental because he didn’t think he was moving up the ladder, and he felt like he was treading water there. He wanted to venture out on his own and work in Japan where he could try to build his name value and hone his craft.
