Block 1:
Taz returns after undergoing a successful surgery to repair the nerve damage in his wrist/hand.
He begins today’s show by speaking about Smackdown Live, and the debut of Bobby Roode. He points out that Roode didn’t execute his full, NXT style entrance, and that was probably Vince McMahon’s decision due to the strict television time restrictions of Smackdown Live. He thinks Roode is really coming into his own with the ‘Glorious’ gimmick, and Taz is excited about his future on the main roster.
However, he felt that Roode’s debut was somewhat lacklustre, especially for a former NXT Champion. He thought that if Roode was going to debut with a match like this, he should have won much quicker than he did.
Taz recalls the difficulty of getting Championship belts through airport security after 9/11. He says that after airports understandably amped up their security processes, most talents were quite satisfied with not holding a Title belt because all the Champions had to go through the tedious process of explaining why they had a giant gold belt in their luggage.
Taz also recalls Hulk Hogan and other veteran WCW stars ribbing Big Show after he won the WCW Title early on in his career. They told Show that he had to wear his Title belt everywhere, even when he was out in public. Big Show didn’t know the difference, so he’d wear his Title around his waist while walking through airports.
