A listener writes into the show and asks Ross and Johnson if we’ll ever see WWE return to a more mature style of programming. Johnson says that he was a big ECW fan and he loves a lot of the mature elements in professional wrestling, but WWE is never going to move away from the PG rating at this point. Ross agrees and points out that WWE has a lot of fantastic sponsorships that rely on their PG programming, and WWE isn’t going to walk away from those deals.
Another listener writes into the show and asks Johnson and Ross how WWE can get fans to cheer Roman Reigns. Johnson says the easy answer is to turn Reigns heel because the fans will probably cheer him then just to spite WWE. He believes that booing Reigns is a phenomenon now similar to booing John Cena, and it all stems back to WWE choosing to have Reigns win the Royal Rumble a few years ago instead of Daniel Bryan.
That sums up this week’s episode of The Ross Report. You can listen to the show yourself anytime here, and I’ll catch ya next week for another recap!
