Block 1:
Taz opens today’s show by saying that he absolutely loved the main event of SummerSlam which saw Brock Lesnar, Braun Strowman, Samoe Joe and Roman Reigns battle it out for the Universal Championship. However, he also thought this match saved what was a rather lacklustre SummerSlam overall.
He gives credit to the commentary team and Michael Cole in particular for the work they did during the Fatal 4-way match. He says that these types of matches are very difficult to commentate because there are a lot of moving pieces and this match in particular was a prime example of that. He thought Cole did a fantastic job of navigating the viewers through this brawl.
He says that there were a few things on SummerSlam that really bothered him, and the match between Big Show and Big Cass was one. He thought that Enzo’s antics in the shark cage was absolutely horrible, and he has no idea why WWE made their fans sit through that nonsense.
On the other hand, he really enjoyed the RAW Women’s Title match between Sasha Banks and Alexa Bliss. He thought both women worked very hard, and he couldn’t believe the incredible pace that they were able to work at. They started fast and they kept up that pace for the duration of the match.
Taz thought the finish to the Nakamura/Jinder Mahal WWE Championship match came out of nowhere. He thought both men were having a fine, physical bout, but just as things seemed to be picking up the match was over. He was surprised by this finish because he thought for sure that Nakamura was going to walk out of this match with the WWE Championship.
