Block 2:
Taz thought it was cool to see James Ellsworth return from suspension and help Carmella defeat Naomi. However, he thought the announce team missed an opportunity to sell Ellsworth’s return once he jumped back into the ring at the end of the match. Their reaction was almost as if they saw the run sheet before the show, and they knew he was coming back. They needed to be more surprised.
He says he was very entertained by the in-ring segment between Shane McMahon, A.J. Styles and Kevin Owens. Owens had a couple of great lines here, and just as the Canadian audience was getting behind him he took a shot at Bret Hart, solidifying himself as a true heel. That’s why WWE continues to push Owens in Taz’s opinion, because this guy knows how to be a real, legitimate heel.
Taz was surprised that WWE went down the road of explaining how Shane has struggled with officiating in the past, but he thought that was cool. He knows that all three of these guys are alpha males, and he believes they’re going to try to steal the show at SummerSlam. He thinks they might just do that.
A listener calls into the show and says that WWE made a mistake by having Baron Corbin get buried by John Cena and Daniel Bryan last night. Taz agrees and says that Cena really went to work on Corbin on the mic, and he got the last word as well. If Corbin could have just had the last word at the end of that segment, it would have been okay. Taz thinks that WWE is very high on Corbin and he is as well, but they need to be careful putting him in spots like that.
