Block 1:
Taz says he was able to watch most of last night’s episode of NXT.
He says he was extremely impressed by Johnny Gargano and Raul Mendoza, and the effort these two put in during the opening match last night. He doesn’t understand why this calibre of match was wasted on a regular episode of NXT, because he thinks this match could have easily fit onto a ‘Takeover’ card.
Taz says that Mendoza should have been built up more prior to this match, so that these two guys could have entered a more drawn out, in-depth program. He thinks they have tremendous chemistry, and Taz was particularly impressed by Mendoza, given how little we know about him. He adds that Mendoza has better entrance music than half of the guys on RAW.
He adds that if there was one thing he could criticize about this match, it’ll be Gargano’s submission finish. He actually loves that cross-face finisher, but he feels that it takes too long for Gargano to lock in the hold. It’s an impossible hold for Gargano to quickly surprise his opponent with, and the transition into the hold is a little bit too clunky in Taz’s opinion.
Taz points out that the great thing about his choke hold finish is that he could surprise his opponents with it and lock it in out of nowhere. Samoa Joe does a similar thing with his finish, and Sgt. Slaugter did it for years with his finisher.
