Jeff Jarrett, co-founder of Impact Wrestling, stated in a recent interview with Sports Illustrated that he wants Impact Wrestling to be a live television show starting next year.
When asked whether Impact would stay on air Pop TV in 2018, Jeff stated:
“We want to be on television in 2018, and I’d love to go live. Success will dictate that. It is no secret that the whole industry is moving toward video on demand, but there is nothing like a live experience and feel. Watching wrestling live completely changes the experience, and that is a major reason why we are going back on the road for live shows in August.”
According to rumors, the Anthem-owned promotion will move to a more profitable television deal for the American market next year, as the current deal with Pop TV doesn’t generate worthwhile revenue for the company.
