Welcome to another edition of SmackDown Live!
The main event of tonight’s SmackDown Live is a Fatal 5-Way match between Carmella, Charlotte Flair, Tamina Snuka, Becky Lynch, and Natalya, in order to determine the number one contender to Naomi’s Women’s Championship. It seems SmackDown Live aims to steal Raw’s thunder ahead of Extreme Rules, with a Fatal 5-Way of their own. It seems unlikely that Charlotte or Becky will win this match, and based on recent momentum, I would expect Carmella to come out on top.
John Cena teased his return to WWE on twitter recently, which has led to some speculation that big match John may return on tonight’s show. That being said, I think it’s more likely we’ll see Cena return after Money In The Bank on June 18.
Taking a second to regroup and recharge. Finishing up a wonderfully funny project in Atlanta, then a trip back home is long overdue @WWE

Also returning tonight (albeit from a much shorter absence), is Randy Orton. After missing last week’s SmackDown Live, following his loss to Jinder Mahal at Backlash, Randy will return on tonight’s show and begin his journey to reclaim the title. Orton and Mahal will go head-to-head again at Money In The Bank.
At Backlash, and last week on SmackDown Live, Sami Zayn defeated Baron Corbin. The Lone Wolf was one of the hottest properties on SmackDown last year and seemed destined to climb into the title picture sooner rather than later. In 2017 Corbin has went 4-8 in matches, seemingly losing a ton of steam and losing out on the limelight to Jinder Mahal. Last week Corbin attacked Sami following his quick loss last week, and Zayn was taken away on a stretcher. This could be the start of a return to form for The Lone Wolf.
And finally, last week The New Day finally debuted…on Talking Smack. The trio has been off of TV for some time because of Kofi Kingston’s injury, and it’s been a great thing for the group considering how poorly they were used in their final months on Raw. Absence makes the heart grow fonder and that will be the case when The New Day finally appear on SmackDown Live, presumably right into title contention against The Uso’s!
