Welcome to Monday Night Raw, two weeks from a historic Extreme Rules!
Last week’s Raw ended with Bray Wyatt laying out both Seth Rollins and Samoa Joe with Sister Abigail. Tension between all five competitors in the upcoming Fatal 5-Way is starting to boil over, and they are all trying to be the last one standing at the end of the show. I would expect to see more of them go toe-to-toe tonight, and probably next week, as WWE look to have every one of the five guys get a moment. Finn Balor is due a strong episode of Raw, considering he lost clean to Reigns last week. Who is the best competitor for Brock Lesnar at Great Balls of Fire? It’s unlikely to be Reigns because WWE allegedly want that match at WrestleMania. Let us know who you think it will be!
Bayley will face Alexa Bliss in a Kendo stick match at Extreme Rules. Last week, Alexa blasted Bayley with a Kendo stick, almost breaking it over her back, and telling the former Champion that she doesn’t have what it takes to become “extreme”. Needless to say, Bayley will be looking for revenge on tonight’s show, although I think they should continue to tease her struggling to become hardcore until the night of. This would create a different kind of story to everything else and get fans more invested in Bayley.
In a complete u-turn to everything else coming at Extreme Rules, Dean Ambrose will be banned from going extreme. The Miz challenged Ambrose to a match last week but the stipulation means that if Ambrose is disqualified he forfeits the title to Miz. I guess this is an interesting dynamic, although it’s a little weird to hinder Dean Ambrose in this way at the only extreme ppv there is. Still, if nothing else the stipulation will make this match stand apart from everything else on the card.
In the most shocking turn of events on last week’s show, Goldust turned on R-Truth and beat him down. Unfortunately for Goldust and Truth, their split was massively overshadowed by the insane turn between Johnny Gargano and Tomasso Ciampa at NXT TakeOver: Chicago. That’s not to say their split isn’t interesting but it lacked the long build-up that makes these things truly enthralling to watch. R-Truth will likely be out for answers, or revenge, on tonight’s Raw.
That’s the preview for tonight’s show, which will also feature The Hardy Boyz, Sheamus & Cesaro, Sasha Banks, and much more. Let us know what you are excited to see and be sure to check out the Ringside News app. And, as always, enjoy the show!
