There is a rumor going around that WWE has once reached out to former UFC commentator Mike Goldberg about possibly coming in as a replacement for Mauro Ranallo. Dave Meltzer was asked about these rumors in the Mail Bag segment of today’s installment of Wrestling Observer Radio and mentioned that he hasn’t heard anything at all regarding these rumors.
Meltzer said he caught wind of the story and it claimed that Jim Ross was the one who was negotiating the deal between Mike and WWE when the company reached out to Mike before. The story also claims that the reason they brought Ross back was for him to try to negotiate another deal with Mike. Meltzer shot that part of the story down saying that there is no truth to that part of the story at all, as JR and Mike don’t even know each other on a personal level.
So one would believe that if the key part of the story is false, chances are the whole story is. We will keep you updated if we hear otherwise.
