The Miz and Maryse make their way to the ring to boos from the crowd. A replay is shown of their debut on RAW last week being spoiled by Dean Ambrose. Miz welcomes the crowd to the most must see WWE talkshow in history. Last week, he and his beautiful, gorgeous, sexy wife shocked the world by coming over to RAW in the Superstar Shake-Up. Little did they know that their yacht had a stowaway.
Dean Ambrose’s music interrupts them, and the WWE Intercontinental Champion makes his way to the ring to a nice reception. Ambrose says he’s been looking forward to this all week. Miz says Ambrose jumped the gun a little by spoiled their introduction. Ambrose also spoiled their debut. Ambrose says they’re in neutral territory. They’re both from Ohio, and Ambrose plays to the crowd a bit much to their delight. Ambrose says, “I’m glad that worked.” As for Maryse, she wouldn’t know anything about it since she’s Canadian.
Miz asks if he thinks this is a joke. Ambrose says Miz’ maroon suit is a joke. Miz says he dresses like this because he respects what a WWE superstar is. He looks, acts, walks, and talks the part because he is the part. Ambrose doesn’t care with his cheap shirts and greasy hair. Ambrose is a disgrace to what a WWE Superstar should be. Ambrose makes them look like “wrasslers.” Ambrose should put on a fanny pack and take them back 30 years ago. The crowd loves Ambrose, which is why he’s given opportunity after opportunity. Ambrose was the first pick from the draft. Who is WWE Champion heading into SummerSlam? Ambrose. What did he do with all that momentum? He wasted it. Six months later at WrestleMania, where was Ambrose? Barely a blip on the card. Ambrose never breaks the glass ceiling not because he’s not talented. Ambrose is lazy and complacent.
Ambrose says he could do all that, but it doesn’t matter. What he wears doesn’t matter. It’s about heart. There are a lot of guys in WWE that care about image and pretend to be something they’re not. They care about “branding.” Ambrose isn’t a brand. He’s Dean Ambrose. Ambrose doesn’t care about movies, talk shows, or endorsement deals. He loves this. It doesn’t matter if he does it in front of 20 people or 90,000.

The reason he’s Intercontinental Champion is because he loves this. Ambrose did beat Miz for the title. Maryse stands in between them. She calls him a “dirty little street rat.” Holding the title doesn’t make him a championship. She says the man makes the championship. Ambrose asks Maryse to hold the microphone, and she obliges. Miz turns his back and starts talking about how he made the Intercontinental Championship mean something. Ambrose is slowly taking off his jacket and title. Miz says the Intercontinental Championship is a joke now. Ambrose attacks him and punches him down. Maryse hits Ambrose, so Miz goes for a Skull Crushing Finale, but Ambrose fights out. Ambrose goes for Dirty Deeds, but Miz escapes.

Mike Rome is backstage with The Hardy Boyz. Matt Hardy says the lights are brighter and the crowds are louder. Jeff Hardy says WrestleMania was incredible. They’re excited to be back and ready to be part of the new era on RAW. Sheamus and Cesaro walk up and welcome them back to Monday Night RAW. Sheamus remembers being in Ireland watching them steal the show at WrestleMania X-7. They earned everyone’s respect that night. Sheamus says without the aid of ladders, it’ll be an honor for them to beat the Hardys and win the titles back. Matt says ladders are wonderful, but they’ll see at Payback that they don’t need them to beat them. Cesaro says they’ll see them out there.

Number One Contender’s Fatal 4-Way Match
Sasha Banks Vs. Alexa Bliss Vs. Mickie James Vs. Nia Jax
As soon as the bell rings, Alexa Bliss doesn’t want anything to do with Nia Jax, so she leaves the ring. Jax shows us why by taking out both Mickey and Sasha. She tries to pin James but Bliss comes into the ring and breaks up the attempt.
Jax then turns onto Bliss but Mickey James and Sasha Banks both hit her from the back with a dropkick and send her out of the ring. Sasha Banks follows up with a suicide dive onto all three of them and we head to the break.

We return to see Jax take out all three opponents. She dominates everyone until Banks puts her in a guillotine choke. Nia counters with a suplex for a near fall. James turns a choke into an armbar, but Jax lifts her off the mat and drops her on top of Sasha.

Sasha runs into the post when they move, which allows Bliss to take advantage. James hits her with a few kicks, but then Banks comes in to take over with a double knee in the corner to Alexa. Sasha applies the Bank Statement, but Mickie breaks it up.
James goes to the top rope, but Banks cuts her off. Jax comes out of nowhere and hits a Samoan drop to Banks. Bliss kicks her out of the ring and covers Banks for the win to become the new No. 1 contender.
