The Usos defended their Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship against The New Day during SmackDown tonight. The match kicked off the show. At one point during the contest, the arena erupted with “Sami Uso” chants.

WWE acknowledged the chants as Michael Cole noted that Sami Zayn couldn’t make it to the show due to “personal reasons.” The WWE commentator did not elaborate on Zayn’s absence.

Sami Zayn’s absence from Crown Jewel triggered “We want Sami!” chants at the press conference for the PLE. The crowd clearly wanted Zayn in Saudi Arabia, but the kingdom’s cold relations with Syria (Zayn’s country of origin) prevented his arrival.

Roman Reigns acknowledged the chants and told the crowd at the presser they didn’t deserve Sami Zayn. We’ll have to wait to see what’s next in store for The Honorary Uce.
