Soberano Jr has made it clear that his loyalty lies with CMLL, not WWE.
During a recent appearance on Esto Es Lucha, the CMLL star, known as “El Lujo de La Lucha Libre,” revealed that he signed a new multi-year deal with the promotion in 2023 and has no intention of going anywhere else—especially not WWE.
In part two of his interview with Alexis Salazar, Soberano Jr. addressed the idea that many wrestlers view WWE as the pinnacle of professional wrestling, but he completely disagrees. He explained that while WWE may offer fame and fortune, CMLL is the true home of wrestling talent.
“A lot of people might believe that being in the world of WWE is the pinnacle of professional wrestling, but not for me,” Soberano Jr. said. “They can be actors and a lot of other things, but you can only find wrestlers here in CMLL. We only have wrestlers here.”
Soberano Jr. went on to explain why he remains so loyal to CMLL. He noted that he had other opportunities but chose to stay because CMLL is where he feels at peace and fulfilled as a performer. “This place is where I feel happy and at peace,” he said. “There had been chances to be at ‘the top,’ but I always wanted to represent these letters,” he added, pointing to the CMLL logo.
While some see WWE as the ultimate goal for wrestlers, Soberano Jr. believes that CMLL offers something more meaningful. “I have messed up a lot, but I am still here, and I will stay here. I am 100% made in CMLL,” he stated.
Soberano Jr.’s comments underline his dedication to CMLL and his belief that it’s the true home of professional wrestling. While WWE may be a dream for some, Soberano Jr. sees his future firmly in CMLL, where he aims to cement his legacy.
