Jeff Hardy’s release from WWE has set the Twitterverse on fire. Both Jeff and his brother Matt Hardy are trending on the social media service in the wake of the surprising news. It’s not the way fans wanted to see their favorite tag team wind up on the trending topics list.

While Matt Hardy has seen over 1,000 tweets and is trending in the wrestling category, Jeff’s popularity has shown to be massive. About 30,000 fans have tweeted about The Charismatic Enigma since the news broke. Around the world, those with an interest in wrestling or even a nostalgia for the glory days when the Hardyz ruled tag team wrestling are showing their appreciation and concern.

Matt Hardy himself joined the party last night. He posted a tribute to his brother and his family. Hardy said Jeff has the best heart and soul of anyone he’s ever met.

Fans also shared their favorite moments, such as when the brothers returned to WWE as a WrestleMania surprise. Plenty of videos of TLC matches of the past were also enthusiastically shared. There was a major outpouring of support for Jeff Hardy.
