SummerSlam PPV Preview & Predictions
Short and sweet is the title, so let's get down to it!
Match 1. Santino Marella vs. Antonio Cesaro for the United States Championship
First off, these men are great athletes, despite the ridiculous gimmick Santino has had for half a decade. If they don't make Santino look like a total goof the entire match, I see a potential 2.5 star match here. I wish it were not the truth, but this match, as the pre-show cannot get longer than a mere 10 minutes, probably. Let's just stick to saying it will last around 8 minutes.
Prediction and New US Champion - Antonio Cesaro
Match 2. Damien Sandow vs. Brodus Clay
Wow, Brodus's first major feud! I understand he had to be put on the card, but I mean, c'mon. Damien completely destroyed Christian the other night. A former World Heavyweight Champion. I don't think a man in a disco-jiggle jumpsuit/one-piece is too much of a challenge. Then again, it is the WWE. We all know how they love to make you think you know who's going to win by making you say "Oh, Damien Sandow beat Christian, he has to beat Brodus Clay!" and then here's my prediction.
Prediction: Brodus Clay
Analysis: I hate to say it but WWE will probably have him continue his little streak(even though he lost to Big Show)
Match 3. Sheamus vs. Alberto Del Rio for the World Heavyweight Championship
This is a toss-up. Sheamus has held the title for a good while now. Will his reign continue? Then again, it's been a while since Del Rio has accomplished anything. Will they have him win the strap? Again, a big toss up. In the end, I see the winner being Alberto Del Rio and Ziggler NOT cashing in yet. I don't think he'll cash in for a couple more months, at least.
Prediction: Alberto Del Rio
Analysis: I think Ziggler will come out when it looks like Sheamus is about to win, distracting Sheamus, allowing Del Rio to win the belt and stand tall as Ziggler holds up his briefcase looking at him with an intimidating stare. When they're standing in the ring, this happens.
Match 4. Chris Jericho vs. Dolph Ziggler
After the World Title Match ends with Ziggler staring down the new champion, Del Rio, Jericho's music hits and he walks quickly down to the ring and throws off his jacket looking ready to unload on Ziggler. They should get an official announcing, like Wrestlemania matches do. Just cause it's fun. No music, no pyro, just their weight, hometown, and name.
I'd like to see this match go around 20 minutes. I wouldn't doubt it if it does. Seems 30 minutes may be too long because Jericho may be fatigued to where he can't hit high moves and Ziggler may not be able to sell as well after that long, so 20 minutes is a good length for this match. Have some HUGE moments. I want this to be the match of the night.
Prediction: Chris Jericho wins.
Analysis: I want a 4/5 star match, at least, from these two. Something to go for the match of the year. I fully expect these two to go all out against each other. Ziggler reminds me of a young Jericho. A lot like a young Jericho.
Match 5. Heath Slater Challenge
Answered by Wade Barrett, I see Heath Slater getting dumped in 15 seconds and this being the quickest match in SummerSlam History. It would be a good way to show he's large and in charge now that he's back.
Analysis: Nuff said.
Match 6. PTP vs. Kofi and Truth
Prime Time Players, I mean AW's henchmen, have been on a roll as of late. Not because of their success. But because of their manager's firing. Let's just say that I don't see Kofi and Truth keeping the belts much longer. I'll even go as to say they lose it this Sunday. Yep.
Prediction and New Tag Team Champions: Prime Time Players.
Match 7. Triple H vs. Brock Lesnar
Okay, okay. I'll be the first to say I don't care who wins. Not one bit. Triple H, you're cool and all, time to play the game, yeah yeah. But c'mon. We all know you'll lose. Brock Lesnar, I'd have liked for a different opponent, but I guess it's all setting up for a match for Brock and Taker at Wrestlemania.
Prediction: Brock Lesnar
Analysis: 3/5 star match. I think it'll be okay with very little "wrestling" and lots of finishing maneuvers.
Match 8. CM Punk vs. Big Show vs. John Cena for the WWE Championship
Again, Cena will be the main event. That's to be expected for the next year, probably. I think this will start with John Cena getting taken out and Punk and Show going at it for a few minutes nearly leading to Punk making Show tap and Cena comes in to interrupt it by putting Punk in the STF. Show interrupts, Punk manages to roll out of the ring as Show knocks out Cena. Punk grabs a chair and hits Show, he falls on Cena and Punk covers Cena, but John kicks out. Punk puts him in the anaconda vice as Show then interrupts another submission. John Cena hits Show with the AA and gets kicked in the head by Punk. He covers Cena for a 2. Then Show for a 2. Then Cena again for a 2. Then Show again, and gets launched off of Show. Punk then looks frustrated and Show grabs him for the Chokeslam. Punk counters and hits a kick to Show's temple. Show falls and Cena is up. Hits AA on Punk. Cena covers him for a 2 count. He puts him in the STF, but Punk reaches the ropes to pull himself out. Cena then laughs at him and turns around to a WMD. Cena gets covered for a 2, Punk jumps on the top rope and hits an elbow on Show. He's still standing. He tries whipping him, gets countered and Punk's in the corner. Show charges and misses. Punk hits his high-knee 3 times and hits a bulldog. He attempts to hit GTS but drops Show when he can't hold the weight. Cena goes for the AA on Show, but Punk kicks Cena to where he falls out of the ring and Show is left on the ground. He lifts his head and Punk hits a shin to the temple and covers Show to win.
Prediction: CM Punk. I went into detail on how I think the match will go because I think it will be a good one to watch. Back and forth action consistently. 3.5 to 4/5 stars of a match. For a triple threat, I expect a lot. Make Show seem strong, but have him take the loss.
Overall Prediction: 8/10
I expect it to be one to remember, but not the best of all time. Let's see how it turns out. Thanks for reading.
