The Road To Mania XXX Begins....

So last month or so I said that WWE’s direction was great and I detailed why focusing on the recent smart booking, and pushing the right guys. The fact is things hinged on how Summer Slam was followed through after Money In The Bank’s great example. Tonight WWE didn’t balk and hesitate to do what actually made sense, they followed through on something that was painfully obvious the fans wanted…and to some people it was actually three things.

1) The trigger was pulled boys and girls, Daniel Bryan won the title CLEAN in the middle of the ring. Hell the fact that he won how he did was shocking in itself to me but he did it. The two put on a fantastic match one that had me at attention even after the at least in my opinion, WWE Match of the Year between Lesnar and Punk. Bryan gave a wrestling lesson to those who watched and even pulled out moves we hadn’t seen (want that spider suplex lift up gif) and Cena kept up with him well and played his part of the powerhouse. They hit each other hard and then hit even harder. Once the pin happened I was like ok here’s the cash in but then the handshake, the fireworks and HHH celebration faked me out and made me believe that the cash in wasn’t coming…until

2) Orton cashes in?- His music hits and the crowd is like “oh shit here it comes” and then he stops. Bryan urges him to get in but he doesn’t, he instead raises the case and turns to walk away. This could have easily been a balk by WWE, a big screw you to internet fans across the board who felt Orton’s been boring and needed to go heel (and in 6 months will be calling him boring again like they did when he WAS heel but w/e). They could have continued with the walk away but Bryan starts chanting YES, and Orton turns back around. Just like that WHAM!

3) Here comes the hammer on the nail in the form of HHH’s heel turn, solidified by the pedigree. Something many on this site have begged for (and saw coming with his addition to the match) and finally got tonight. Now I have my own opinions on it, like he didn’t need to be there to do it and it could have easily been done when HHH came out to congratulate him but hey shit happens and the match was great. Now ladies and gentlemen we have a heel HHH, heel Orton and Bryan won the title ALL in one night and add to that Cena’s gone for a while and it’s like who the hell didn’t walk away from Summer Slam happy as a fan??

Sure there can be things to pick on but don’t because fact is tonight was WWE in top form and the night I choose to look at as the beginning of our road to Wrestlemania. So from tonight on after every PPV I’ll be doing a breakdown of the road trip to New Orleans that began tonight, pot holes and all, good or bad and let’s see if WWE can keep up the good work. Let’s hope
