Hello ladies and gents, thought I'd take a break from doing my standard WWE blog and do a positive blog for once on TNA. It was pretty much accepted in 2002 that the WWE owned wrestling, but it gave that one other company a chance to be number two in the game, fans always love an alternative. Well blah, blah TNA when on for a few years and then started to gain some traction with the likes of Kurt Angle, Mick Foley and Hulk Hogan. In my opinion the company has been stale the last year or so, I'm not a huge fan of Bully Ray being their world champion, he just doesn't ring main-eventer to me.
However the last few weeks I've seen a pretty cool storyline that has got me interested in TNA again and that's Sting reforming The Main Event Mafia. That's the one thing I believe is missing from TNA is that one big storyline, there's always a lot of little things going on at once but rarely saying we "must" tune in to see who the new member is going to be. Factions are always a great way to put a lot of guys in the spotlight at once and TNA can build most of their story-lines around The Mafia. I really hope Hulk Hogan stays out of this one and just continues to help younger guys on the side, if he can't wrestle that's pretty much all he should be regulated to.
I love that Sting has pretty much become a branded TNA star, TNA needs that. They need a legend who isn't a WWE guy to be the face of the company. It gives them some decent credentials. Even though I always called him the "WCW guy", he's been with TNA long enough where a large part of the TNA legacy lies with him. With Kurt Angle and Sting involved with this storyline, I'm very excited to see how this will turn out.
Now onto Bully Ray. Hey I like the guys character, in fact I loved him The Dudleyz and who can forget the crazy stare he did in the WWE after he put Mae Young through the table, classic stuff. But main eventer? In the words of The Hurricane - wassup wid dat? I think TNA needs to get the belt off him badly, he's just too bland. A big part of me thinks Hulk Hogan had a lot to do with Ray as champ. Hulk has always had that boring old mindset, if he's at least pretty big physically, we should push him. Right now the belt needs to be on someone who still seems fresh and innovative, someone like AJ Styles who still has those qualities.
I think TNA is moving in the right direction and I was genuinely intrigued in their new storyline, lets just hope they run the ball right in to the endzone. Well that's my little rant, thanks for reading! Post comments good or bad!
