So, the grand daddy of all the pay per views is upon us, Wrestlemania 29. While the build up overall hasn't been all that grand and there are a few matches that I feel should not be happening at the biggest pay per view of the year ( I'll explain which), let's be honest, the world will watch it. Some of the matches are quite predictable as to what the outcome will be, and some I can not wait to witness. And now, without further adeu, let's start with the first match.
Tons of Funk and the Funkadactyls VS Team Rhodes Scholars and The Bella Twins
This match was one of those last minute additions that we've already seen about 3 times that they just threw together to fill out the card. I expect Tons of Funk and The Funkadactyls to pull of the win here and Team Rhodes Scholars to go on to singles competition. Not a very exciting match, which will probably be on the pre-show.
Wade Barrett (c) VS The Miz for the Intercontinental Championship
I hate to have to say this about a match involving both The Miz and Wade Barrett, but this will definitely be on the pre-show. They really haven't been doing much with either Barrett or The Miz ( which is a damn travesty ), but this should have had a great 3 month or so build to it. They are both main event quality wrestlers and deserve much better than what they are getting. I expect The Miz to get the win and Wade Barrett to go on to bigger and better things in the very near future.
Chris Jericho VS Fandango
This is one of those matches I mentioned earlier that should not be happening on the grandest stage of them all. I remember not too long ago that you had to earn your place on Wrestlemania and not be handed a spot solely because Vince McMahon likes your gimmick. The fact that this is Fandango's debut match makes it even worse. This will probably be a decent match, not great, just decent. I wouldn't be surprised if Fandango got the win here considering Jericho is part time at this point in his career.
Brock Lesnar VS Triple H
This is one of the matches I can not wait for. The build has been fantastic over the past year, and they are definitely going to be in the running for one of the best matches of the night. Expect for Paul Heyman to get involved once or twice, but that will not matter. I see Triple H getting the victory here, possibly leading towards a rematch at Extreme Rules.
Team Hell No (c) VS Dolph Ziggler and Big E. Langston for the WWE Tag Team Championships.
This is another one of those matches that I feel should not be happening at Wrestlemania. Big E. Langston is making his in ring debut and this match has absolutely no appeal to it. Dolph Ziggler, in my opinion, has screwed up every opportunity to be a main event guy, and will probably be upper mid card for the rest of his career. Let's hope to God nobody gives Big E a microphone. AJ will definitely interfere, but I see Team Hell No retaining here.
Ryback VS Mark Henry
This match is going to be very cool to see. Ryback has been the victim of poor booking at every pay per view match he has had in recent memory, and to be honest, it's been killing his momentum. In order to bring Ryback to the next level and keep his character relevant, he absolutely needs the win here. Mark Henry really doesn't need it as badly as Ryback does, and he probably doesn't have that much time left before he retires. I fully expect Ryback to get the win here, and be in line for big things and major story lines soon after.
Sheamus, Randy Orton, and The Big Show VS The Shield (Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, and Seth Rollins)
This match is very intriguing. The Shield has been awesome so far in their WWE careers. Every match they have had has been stellar, and this one will be no different. Can they keep their unbeaten streak going against The Great White,The Viper, and The World's Biggest Athlete? Yes, they absolutely can. Will they? No. Sheamus, Randy Orton, and The big Show will win here, and the Randy Orton will RKO both of them and begin his heel turn.
The Undertaker VS CM Punk
So, here we go with the highly anticipated Wrestlemania annual match. The undertaker's undefeated streak on the line against the longest reigning WWE champion in decades. Will The Best In The World beat the streak and cement his place even further in history? NO. Undertaker will win here, and probably retire soon after.
Alberto Del Rio (c) VS Jack Swagger for The World Heavyweight Championship
This match has one of the most interesting story lines to it. The anti immigration guy versus the ultimate immigrant living the American Dream. Del Rio has been quite boring as a face, and I don't think he can keep it up much longer and be relevant. Jack Swagger has had his career resurrected by Zeb Coulter, I mean Dutch Mandel, and I can say that it makes the most sense for Jack Swagger to beat Del Rio and win the title. Dolph will try to cash in his briefcase, but will probably be demolished before he can.
The Rock (c) VS John Cena for the WWE Championship
Now, I am praying to God that this match will be better than last years stinker. Having said that, This is probably the most predictable match on the card. We all knew The Rock was temporary to sell pay per view buys and nothing more. He will not be around on a weekly basis, and for that, he should not be WWE champion. He's honestly more interested in selling his crappy movies like G.I. Joe: Retaliation (AWFUL) than he is in elevating the WWE further. John Cena Is going to win the title here, and the Rock will go back to Hollywood to make more stupid movies that we will all regret paying to see.
So, there you have it. Do you agree with my predictions? Do you disagree, or do you think I missed something? Comment below and let know.
