I want to start out by saying that I have NOT been the biggest TNA fan lately. Ever since Hardy became champion again, I haven't watched very much. Don't get me wrong, I like Jeff Hardy and I really loved his "road to redemption" as I called it, back to the top. But I never wanted him to be champion again. I was hoping Aries stayed champ for a while. That being said, now on to the real subject at hand, Bully Ray is the new TNA Champion and Aces and Eight's President.
I think a lot of people saw this coming, as far as Bully's win, but not ending like this. As I watched Lockdown I had a feeling that Hogan was going to get involved somehow. Maybe throw Bully a crutch to help him win. And as soon as Hogan and his daughter Brooke came out I was pretty sure I was right. The whole "I want a son-in-law for a champ" told me that this had to be the way Lockdown was going to end.
Well played Aces and Eights, well played. Team TNA may have pulled out a win, but not the win that really mattered. Bully Ray has been slowly reeling in Brooke Hogan for months now, and finally got on the good side of her father Hulk Hogan. Bully even got Sting to buy into his lies.
I'm going to back track here a bit. Remember back when Devon and Bully Ray were in the WWE/F and Vince had them split up? Remember how upset you were by this? It just wasn't the right time to do this. The boys from Dudley weren't done yet wrecking havoc on the rest of the wrestling industry yet. Vinnie Mac seeing that this didn't work, put them back together until their time was up. They went on to Japan and conquered there. The Dudleys then went on to TNA and dominated there. Finally they had done everything they had set out to do. They became the world's greatest tag team. And no, sorry Hass and Benjamin, you're not it.
When Team 3D broke up a few years ago, I think many assumed it wouldn't work again. But these two had a whole new future ahead of them. Devon has had some success here and there, winning the TNA Television championship and became a weekly showcase to see who could drop him. That answer was no one. His momentum was stopped by some contract problems, but he came back strong as a top member of the new stable Aces and Eights.
This story line of Aces and Eights has been a long journey lasting about a year so far. It's one of the longest story lines for a stable that I can remember, next to NWO. Many TNA fans longed to see who would be the next to be revealed. Month by month went by with a new faces being unmasked once in a while. But in the last month things were really coming together for them with the additions of Anderson, Brisco and D'Lo Brown.
While this story has been going on, Bully Ray has been gaining momentum as one of the company's top heels. He may not have won all the time, but "Calfzilla" always had something to say on his "Twitta Machine". This past Bound For Glory seamed to be about as far as Bully would get to the top. He recently went from being one of TNA's top heels to being side by side with Sting to prove himself as someone Hogan could trust against Aces and Eights.
So now we know who everyone is working for. The President has been revealed. Ace's and Eights now hold most of the cards as far as the TNA Championships go. All they have to do now is gain the TNA World Tag Team Championships of the World, as Kazarian and Daniels would say. I have to admit, seeing Devon and Bully Ray together after this victory at Lockdown made me about as excited as seeing the Shield debut in the WWE. The Dudley Boys have been one of my favorites for a long time and now they are back together in Aces and Eights.
How long will Aces and Eights be able to protect Bully Ray's TNA World Heavyweight Championship? I believe Bully will be on top for quite some time. Please leave your thoughts and comments below....and You're Welcome.
