The fall of WCW has once again become a significant topic of discussion, fueled in part by the ‘Who Killed WCW?’ docuseries where Vince Russo is prominently featured. Recently, Russo made a bold claim concerning his on-screen character during his time in WCW. He has now extended this claim to reflect on the current landscape of professional wrestling.

One of Russo’s boldest claims during the series is regarding his on-air character, where he claimed that he was superior to the majority of the WCW roster at that time. This bold claim sparked considerable debate and controversy within the wrestling community, and a ton of backlash too.

“I’m just going to be one thousand percent completely honest with you: as far as an on-air character? I felt that I was better than 80% of that roster,” Russo boldly claimed. The criticism Russo faces is often due to him booking himself onto the show and putting the WCW World Championship around his own waist, however, he explained that happened on the receiving end of a ton of pressure. “I made the mistake of saying ‘You know what? ‘F it, if you want ratings, I will go out there and get ratings myself. I almost got killed, bro. I almost got killed!”

Vince Russo would then double down on his claim recently as well. In light of such comments, Vince Russo took to Twitter and stated that if he were an in-ring character in today’s wrestling landscape, he believes he would be better than 90% of the combined rosters of WWE, WWE NXT, AEW, Impact Wrestling, and NWA.

”For the Record—if I was an In-Ring Character in Today’s Wrestling Landscape, when it comes to @WWE , @WWENXT , @AEW , @IMPACTWRESTLING , @nwa I would be Better than 90% of ALL those Rosters COMBINED.”

We will have to wait and see whether Vince Russo will ever find his way back to a pro wrestling company in the modern professional wresting landscape, as it is likely many fans might not want that to happen. Nonetheless, Russo will continue to make bold claims in the meantime.
