AEW made a spectacular decision to embody the spirit of Owen Hart and his passion for wrestling by starting the Owen Hart Foundation Cup tournament last year in collaboration with his widow, Martha Hart.
The tournament has made its return for the second edition this year for both the Men and Women’s locker room in AEW with a World Title opportunity hanging in the balance at AEW All In for the winners.
On the June 19 edition of AEW Dynamite, the tournament brackets were revealed for both sides. The Men’s tournament would feature Claudio Castagnoli, PAC, Bryan Danielson and Shingo Takagi on one side and Rey Fenix, Jay White, Jeff Jarrett and a wild card entrant on the other.
Similarly for the women, one side will feature matches between Willow Nightingale, Serena Deeb, Nyla Rose and Kris Statlander while the other side includes Deonna Purrazzo, Hikaru Shida, Mariah May and Saraya.
The first quarter finals matched kicked off in full force on tonight’s show, promising it to be a spectacular tournament for both sides as the march to AEW All In has begun for top AEW prospects.
