Samoa Joe will be on the RAW commentary team until his injury heals. He is replacing Dio Maddin in the third chair after Maddin was sent back to NXT. The big question is how long will Joe be in that role.

We previously reported that WWE told the same story to Taz years ago. It was said that he would be wrestling again for the company, but the Human Suplex Machine never left the SmackDown announce team for years until his eventual exit.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter confirmed that Samoa Joe won’t be on the RAW announce table for the long haul. At this time WWE values him too much as an in-ring competitor so they likely won’t be sticking him on commentary for good.

When asked about if Joe would be permanent in the role because he has been so strong in it, the reaction was that they consider him too valuable as a talent right now and he’s only there until his hand injury heals

We’ll just have to see how everything pans out in this situation. Samoa Joe is very good on commentary and he provides an extra element that some fans really appreciate. He is also an incredibly strong competitor so WWE might have a tough decision to make when he’s medically cleared.
