The Rock isn’t in the WWE Hall Of Fame just yet, but you never know when WWE will pull the trigger on inducting The Great One. At this point in his career, he is enjoying a huge run with one box office smash after another which doesn’t give him any time to wrestle.
On top of that, WWE is a very dangerous place to work and his match against John Cena at WrestleMania cause the production of Hercules to be postponed due to Dwayne Johnson suffering a pectoral injury. The Rock hasn’t wrestled a proper WWE match since, but that was apparently set to change next year.
WrestleVotes reports that WWE’s original plans for The Rock were for him to come in as a big surprise at the Royal Rumble and win the match. This would set up a huge WrestleMania main event between The Rock vs Roman Reigns.
Roman Reigns’ leukemia announcement obviously changed those plans, but if The Rock already has it on his schedule to compete at the Royal Rumble event you never know if WWE might just switch Brock Lesnar into that spot against The Great One.
WWE fans give the company a very hard time for having Brock Lesnar as a part-time champion, but would the same complaints be there if The Rock were holding the Universal Title instead? It all depends on what kind of deal WWE and The Rock will be able to work out at this point.
