Rich Swann’s lawyer Ian M. Pickens discussed the former cruiserweight champions’ legal situation to Sporting News and mentioned that there haven’t been any charges officially filed against Swann, who was arrested on Sunday following an altercation with his wife Vannarah Riggs.
“At this point, no criminal charges have been filed officially against him so depending on how that process plays out will determine our scope of representation,” Pickens said. “We’re hopeful for a fair and quick resolution on behalf of Mr. Swann, but ultimately the state attorney will make their decision (on potential charges) when they deem it appropriate. We’re working on the case now and things we may do to assist Mr. Swann. But as far as specifics, I can’t comment on that.”
As previously noted, Swann was suspended from WWE as a result of the incident as they have a no-tolerance stance on domestic violence. If charges are filed against Swann and he goes to court and loses the case, there is a good chance the company could terminate him.
